JUST IN CASE ANYBODY’S WONDERING
The greatest soul ballad of all time, without a doubt?
Tower of Power’s “You’re Still A Young Man.” If you think otherwise, I can only assume that you’ve never heard “You’re Still A Young Man.” Go hence, dear reader, and live in the dark no more.

Ah, the song that Prince lost his virginity to.
It’s not quite a ballad, but for some reason I’ve been addicted to James and Bobby Purify’s gorgeous “I’m Your Puppet” lately. Have you heard it?

Yep, I love that song. It’s kind of . . . I don’t know . . . slinky, I guess.

Although, in the category of music to, uh, make babies to, it’s a dead heat between “Let’s Get It On” and “Let’s Stay Together.” Marvin had the sly and slinky, but Al had the raw emotion.
