IN WHICH MR. CASBURN CUTS TO THE CHASE
Steve Casburn deserves to be the New York Times quote of the day for this:
There are people who say that 9/11 “changed the world forever”. These people know very little about the world.
Straight up, brother. Although you could also say they knew very little about “forever,” too.

Add to that the comment “I will never be the same.” Oh, yeah you will … in about a month, for everyone not directly affected by a death during 9/11.

I got on a plane two weeks later and didn’t even think about it.

I had to fly back from California (where I was working for the previous 2.5 weeks) the Friday immediately following. Travelling like that has, indeed, “forever” colored my subsequent experiences with air travel.
