A BLOGGER’S SHAME

I just handed my wife a copy of today’s Dave Barry column, since it discusses kids’ birthday parties, and she goes to a lot of them.

Her comments: “Did you write this? Because it kinda sounds like you wrote this, except there’s a lot fewer words that I don’t understand.”

Mark Hasty: derivative hack.

  1. When addressing how a man might carry out a child’s party, Barry has essentially described a good friend of mine from high school.

    Separated from the mother of his 6-year-old girl, last summer he threw his daughter a last-minute bash that featured nothing more and nothing less, to nourish kids from 5 to 85, on his weel-planned-out menu:

    1) A Subway party sub said to feed 15 (the guest list totalled 18);
    2) A (one) 1-pound box of potato chips;
    3) Basically, unlimited beer and Pepsi.

  2. Hey, Subway, that’s got vegetables, right? So what’s the problem?
