When we lived in Shawnee Mission, KS (right next to Kansas City for those of you unfamiliar with the area), we lived near the top of a hill facing north and slightly west. I could stand in the kitchen and watch these amazing and scary lightning displays in the storms roaring in our direction. Despite the fact that they tended to pass either north or south of us because of some geographical weirdness, I was glad to move away from there. We can get tornados down here, but at least I don’t feel quite so exposed.

Midwest tornadoes
Bemusement Park is keeping an unofficial chroncile of the severe weather in the upper Midwest. For instance, here, and here. Sounds like it’s time for Bill Murray and Dan Akroyd to show up….
