ANOTHER POINTER
Now up at Blogcritics: my review of a couple singles from a promising new singer-songwriter, Bonnie McKee.
A PASSAGE NOTED
Jeff Smith, better known as “The Frugal Gourmet,” has died in Seatlle. Before he fell from grace, he was one of the few superstars of culinary television.
I’ve read enough about the guy to know that there was a lot going on in his life, and I’ll just leave it at that. But his show was fun, and his cookbooks are still a joy to read.
FARK NAILS IT
Their headline to this story: “Rudy T agrees to coach what’s left of the Lakers”
NOT COMING SOON TO A THEATER NEAR YOU
From the “how many times do we have to hear this story” department comes word that Velvet Revolver frontman Scott Weiland has been ordered to undergo a six-month drug rehab program. The forced rehab comes as a result of an October 2003 DUI incident.
I hate this. Weiland is one of the better talents to emerge from the grunge era, and he keeps messing up his life. You’ve got the goods to make an impact, dude, and you’ve been given second, third, fourth, fifth chances. Why not just acknowledge that the problem is far beyond your ability to control it and start getting healthy, OK? Because some of us are not looking forward to the VH1 coverage of your funeral.
