You're not going to see much of a difference on current security and war issues. I think there's a difference in the way they'd handle future international issues. I also think there's a difference in how they'd collect and allocate government money.

Unfortunately, these differences have a greater amount of nuance, so they get overlooked for the Vietnam bullcrap. Honestly, I thought that if Bush (or his supporters) were going to pull out god-knows-what against Kerry for his service, then Kerry ought to have given MoveOn a free rein to bash Bush's (lack of) service. But you're right - ultimately, what people did decades ago isn't nearly as important as what they're going to do in the next four years.

Mark, don't be surprised if you get taken to task for not believing that the Swifties have a direct line to Karl Rove's office.

As it happens, Kerry went after Bush's ANG service back in April.

By the way, I recently commented on my own blog about the trouble hyping Vietnam got Kerry into. Probably with an excess of snark, I'm sorry to say.

Oh, I'm sure the GOP is at least marginally behind SBVftT, Jammer. And Kerry deserves to be taken down a peg for his stuck Vietnam button. But really, like I said, this whole thing isn't convincing me much one way or the other.

I am wondering when Bush is going to get around to discussing a domestic policy issue that isn't homeland security.

The problem is that the Bush campaign and cronies (including SBVT) are demonstrably lying about Kerry's war record.
