Certainly you, Mr. Hasty, as a man of the cloth, would be aware that Steinbrenner is indeed one of the many earthly spawn of Satan.

Therefore, is it any wonder that the Yankees organization would only be thinking of itself regardless of how unfeeling its requests may look?

Now, now, Yankees-haters. I know it would've been the sensitive thing to do to cut the D-Rays some slack about getting to work on time, but it's not as if they didn't have advance warning. I'm sure somebody down there has heard of the Weather Channel. And even if they don't have a Steinbrenner-sized payroll, it's a safe bet to assume that the D-Rays weren't delayed because some of the team were busy moving their single-wides and lawn gnomes to higher ground.

A-Rod's hardly been a bust: to date he's second on the team in total bases, and is batting .285 with 33 HRs and 84 RBIs. Yes, those numbers don't justify his enormous salary, and he does lead the team in Ks and Es. But the Yankees wouldn't be atop the AL East without him either.

Disagree about the first place thing w/o ARod. I'm sure Alfonso Soriano could have put up .285, and if not 33 HR's, certainly 84 RBI's by this point; what's more, it's fair to say that Soriano's OBP is (and, had he stayed with the Yankee's, would have been) higher than A-God's.

The Yankees have had a dominant run, but especially this year, are looking more like those oft-ridculous Yankee teams of the early-to-mid 80's that featured outrageous, bloated payrolls, spurred on by The George trying to milk one more World Series before scrapping everything and rebuilding.

They probably won't sink that low this time (or maybe they will!), but in any event, the Anaheim Angels are ready to drop another round of humiliation on Los Yanquis come October, just like 2002.

A series I'd like to see would be Boston-Anaheim. Ghosts of Dave Henderson and Donnie Moore revisited......

Oops....replace "OBP" in the above commentary with "Batting average with runners in scoring position".
