BOLD NEW LOOK FOR A BOLD NEW TBP

TBP has moved over to a new host, and to celebrate the change, I’ve tried to tidy up the joint a bit. Let me know what you think of the new look.

  1. I like the new look, but I have to ask you a question. I’m not sure how large your monitor is but I browse at 1024X768 and the side bar is on the bottom of page instead of scrolling along the side. Not sure why that is, but I think you may have it set by pixel instead of percentage :)

I look forward to visiting again in the future! :)

  2. I love the look and color scheme. However, something in your layout is causing the calendar and blogroll to shunt to the bottom of the posts in any resolution less than fullscreen at 1280 pixels. If you like, I can try to find a CSS tweak that fixes the problem.

  3. More Hasty News
He’s got a new layout, and it’s only slightly broken (you’ve got to do a lot of scrolling to get to the blogroll unless you browse with a very large window). I do like the color scheme and font a lot, though.
Meanwhile, Scott at The High Life asks…

  4. Meet the new Mark …
Mark Hasty has done a facelift on the Bemusement Park to go along with his new editorial direction. Check it out. Very clean. And this problem with blogrolling is totally throwing me off….

  5. A few more points:

Something is causing IE (XP, SP2) not to render all of every line. Try scrolling up and down your main page to see it.

Also, there is a big gap between your content and the stuff on the right. It looks like the problem you were having with the CSS on your old site before you fixed it. I’d suggest making a similar change here.

Finally, clicking on your top banner should probably return you to the main page. Right now, if I follow a permalink to your site, I don’t know how (without editing the location bar in my web browser) to read the rest of your blog.

  6. FYI, all your old permalinks are also borked.

  7. Dave, the problem with IE not rendering every line is an IE problem–I don’t know how to fix it. The gap on the right is a consequence of laying out the page so it will work on browser windows of varying sizes. I’ve had it with trying to parse out ‘absolute’ and ‘relative’ on my CSS.

I’ll make the banner image a hyperlink after the Dolphins-Bengals game tonight. As for the permalinks, I don’t know how to fix that problem. Sorry.

  8. The first thing I would try in order to solve the IE rendering problem is to set the line-height property for .blogbody to a percentage (you are consistently using 140% elsewhere) rather than 16px.

As for the column widths, if it works, don’t screw with it, right? Not a big deal IMO, just wanted to give feedback.

  9. Looks good in IE now, and the text (IMO) is even more readable with the increased line spacing. Good stuff!
