SO LONG, FIRST AVENUE

The legendary Minneapolis concert hall has closed–maybe temporarily, maybe forever. I had myself many a good time at First Ave back when I lived in the Twin Cities.

DOING WHAT NEEDS TO BE DONE

John Kerry won’t concede, but I will: This thing is more over than Ricky Martin’s career, and no amount of recounting in Ohio will change that. I continue my near-perfect streak of never voting for the winner; I’m now 1 for 4, with my only correct vote coming in ‘92.

(Commenters should be advised: I really don’t care that I’m usually wrong, or that I cast a vote for the person who didn’t win this particular election. Frontrunning is as odious in politics as it is in sports fandom. It’s your team, win or lose. And Kerry won my state, after all.)
