HAWK SNARK

Call this an instance of bitter Hawkeye fan sophistry, but after watching the Iowa State-Army game tonight, and based also on the first game snafu against Illinois State, I’m starting to wonder if Mac spent the entire off-season putting in the Iowa game plan, to the exclusion of anything else. The Clones were not sharp against Army tonight, not at all.

Likewise, seeing the success that Army had by pulling their guards and running sweeps, are we all certain that the only important stat for offensive linemen is size? It seems to me that “sort of big, but fast and well-conditioned” has a lot going for it, too.

I’m going to have a hard time moving Cy up in the polls next week, regardless of what happens above them tomorrow/Monday.
