I did NOT catch that interview, Steve. I'll be watching it very soon. I always thought Lee Terry was sort of with-it for a politico; we'll see how he does with Colbert.

On #7: I reached that point last week, and have switched from coffee and soda to tea. So far it has worked well for me. I drink Tazo brand from a bottle.

3. Nissan Quest. If you are considering used, the Mercury Villager is the same vehicle and generally costs less. The Quest is mechanically identical (or very similar) to the Maxima.

8. Charcoal rocks. I have a gas grill, and will admit that I like the convenience and speedy warm up time but charcoal is definitely better. My MIL has the best of both worlds: a charcoal grill with a propane starting system (no charcoal fluid, gets hot very quickly).

Regarding pots: I've mentioned in my blog that my mother has a garden shop. She sells pottery & other gardening stuff. The amount of money you want to spend depends on the size and type of pot-- not to mention the number of pots you'll be purchasing. I doubt Phil the Showkiller will be buying pottery for Mother's Day gifts.

3. Honda Odysseys are very good. Unfortunately, Honda realized this and priced them accordingly. I'd stay away from the Chevy Venture, if it's still made. The GM Card rebates on those had gotten very high, like $3500, last time I checked a list. That tells you something about their desperation to dump them.
5. I said pretty much the same thing today:

8. When I replaced our old gas grill with a simple charcoal grill last year, I found myself grilling much more and enjoying it much more. I'm not interested in gas grills any longer.
9. You haven't priced pots lately, have you? I've been adding pots for several years, there's about $80 in pots right here:

and dirt doesn't mean dirt, it means potting soil, and you might as well get a good one, not the Home Depot store brand. Firgure on paying $5-7 per bag, but in the long run it's worth it. Unless you'd like me to send you a recipe for making your own potting soil, which you could then give her as the loving fruit of your labors.
