Look, this is stupid. Everybody knows Penn State is in the Big East, Florida State is in the SEC, Miami is in the MAC, and Notre Dame is the national champion. Except for Alabama, which is recognized by the Bryant Cup Foundation as their national champion. Now can we stop all this chatter and talk about Stanford?

Hey RaginPage! Just because we’re in the youth group doesn’t mean we don’t watch football! I mean, I don’t - but a lot of the other guys do. As you can probably guess from my name I’m more into Star Trek. It’s the coolest sci-fi show ever, way better than Battlestar Galactica.

Even though I’m not a college football fan though, I agree with you about these guys pulling Terrible Tom’s leg. I mean seriously - I don’t watch college football at all and I know Archie Leach is wrong to say Florida and Florida State are both in the ACC. He’s just confused, Miami and Florida are in the ACC. Florida State is obviously in the SEC.

So hang in there Terrible Tom, and don’t pay any attention to these guys trying to tease you. I’m sure Pastor Mark will strike down their lies.

Terrible Tom,

You are trying to reason with a bunch of kids from one of the youth groups at Mark’s church. I’m pretty sure a couple of them have never even watched college football before and only follow their respective Jr. High teams. Don’t waste too much time trying to teach them college football, I really think they’d rather learn about soccer. I know one of them is a huge Beckham fan.

if that indeed is his real name, and I’m pretty sure it is’nt.

It is a KNOW fact that Florida and Florida State have an intense rivalry in the ACC.

The Atlantic Coast Conference involves teams connected to the Atlantic Coast.

The State of Florida borders on the Atlantic Coast.

Therefore, its football teams are in the Atlantic Coast Conference.

Besides, don’t let that Jefferson Gators idot bring you down. Everybody knows that
Penn State is in the Big East conference.

Penn State is in the SEC. There are TEN teams in the Big TEN.

Tennessee is in the Big XII. UT won the Big XII last year. Why would two SEC teams play in a bowl game?

Florida and Florida State are both SEC teams that play in the SEC championship every year.

I can appreciate dissing #11 of 10 (PSU) by ignoring their victory over an obviously superior foe (hey, they’re from the SEC, they must be superior). I can’t really understand dissing the Badgers, but I can guess that the mega-doses of humiliation served to OSU and UM overshadow whatever light there may have been in the Big Ten bowl season. I’s sure some other Big Ten team(s) played in so-called Bowl Games, but Mark is probably right about them.

I don’t think that Archie Leach was being funny. He really thought that Florida was in the ACC. This is amusing but understandable since Bobby Bowden and Urban Meyer look like they were separated at birth.

I see the humor in a.’s comment to “Deer [sic] Archie Leach”, including the attempt to confuse poor Archie further by intentionally substituting Georgia Tech (an ACC team) with UGa (SEC team and the lesser half of The Game Formerly Known as The World’s Largest Outdoor Cocktail Party). The ‘Clempson” thing must be some inside joke I’m unaware of, though I’ve been a religious reader of PoBT for several years now.

I’m confused. But I’m happy, so it’s probably OK. Football season is coming, and that’s all that matters.

Terrible Tom, you’ve been had. As usual, Penn State proved that they were the best team in the SEC by beating the previous holder of the title, which is why Mark didn’t include them in the bowl statistics for the Big Ten (I stand confused as to why they’re in the preview at all! Perhaps Mark’s been hitting the communion wine, as it were).

As for Wisconsin, it was surely an honest mistake. Their victory over Kansas in the Capital One Bowl was truly inspiring.

OK, Archie and a. - Florida is from the SEC (Florida State is ACC), but their bowl opponent (OSU) didn’t exactly represent the Big Ten very well, if you know what I mean. Similarly, Big Blue did their best to humiliate the conference by getting utterly waxed by Southern Cal (from the lowly Pac-10, no less).

Wisconsin, OTOH, played very well against an excellent SEC team, the Arkansas Razorbacks. Similarly, PSU defeated Tennessee (also an SEC team, I promise).

Like I said, the Badgers and Nits represented the Big Ten rather well last bowl season against decent competition (the best competition available, according to SEC fans and most media outlets).

PS - a., very funny trying to confuse Archie with the GT/UGA juxtaposition.
