i hear your concern about tennessee and, believe you me, i am no tennessee fan (i grew up a Georgia fan and graduated from Michigan). i don't know that i'm particularly sold on them either but

1) i can't possibly justify UGA over UT after the game saturday so if you think UGA is deserving of the spot, then shouldn't UT be at least as deserving? that's really my point: if you're going to rank UGA, you have to rank UT higher, imo.

2) seriously, who else can you think of to put there? possibly Colorado, who beat #6 Oklahoma and lost to #9 ASU and unranked FSU. Speaking of whom, FSU, who lost the first game of the season to Clemson and has won 4 straight since (albeit to less-than-elite foes). I don't think teams like Indiana and Texas A&M are all that good.

As an Illini fan, Illinois does not deserve to be any higher than you put them until it shows it can put away a few more teams that it should beat. Consider this week's game against Iowa as a test - if they come out of Iowa City with a 10+ point win, they're for real. If they look soft (or God forbid, lose) then they're still at best only a #16-20 team.
